MCCLEERY EQUINE VETERINARY SERVICE Providing veterinary care to horse owners in Marion, Levy, and Alachua counties. AMANDA MCCLEERY, DVM Dr. Amanda McCleery grew up in southern Nebraska and Kansas. Some of her fondest childhood memories include riding her Quarter horse Katie down the county roads and the many 4-H horse shows and junior rodeos in which they competed. Dr. McCleery received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Kansas State University where she ran varsity track and field and cross country, achieving NCAA Division I All American status twice in her career. She received a master’s degree in genetics and a DVM from Texas A&M University, graduating with top honors. Dr. McCleery is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners. Dr. McCleery’s areas of special interest include equine dentistry, lameness, wound care and reproduction. Dr. McCleery’s husband is professor of wildlife ecology at the University of Florida. They live in Archer along with their dogs, Poncho and Calamity Jane, and donkeys, Mr. Brown and Mr. White.
