Our History The breeding farm and competition stables of the Bahle family were for decades a very well known and highly respected factor in the showjumping industry of Germany. For many years, the sports success was already combined with ambitious breeding activities on the basis of Holsteiner bloodlines and intensive cooperation with the studfarm Zangersheide. While beautiful facilities and convincing success were part of the family's daily life, serious health problems of a new-born child caused in 1993 the immediate move to Canada. With the support of the Bavarian government and the strong support of the studfarm Zangersheide the Bahle operation started out bigger and stronger than ever as Okanagan Show Jumping Stables in Lumby, British Columbia where over the last twenty years an amazing success story took place. Our Facilities A beautiful valley in the world famous Okanagan is home to this 300 acre operation. It consists of all best irrigated farm land, supplying rich and spacious pastures, hay and grain fields and last not least breeding and training facilities on highest modern standards. The show barn with its climatized stabling facilities has a large indoor riding ring as well as two spacious sand rings available for schooling. A grass Grand Prix field with international standard measurement and jump designs supports the training for the higher levels. Additionally, close by paddocks for the horses under saddle, a covered free running walking machine and beautiful trails enrich the daily routine of the horses in training. On the breeding end there are well designed collecting and inseminating facilities with a modern laboratory, teasing area and solaria. A separate guest mare barn guarantees that outside horses are kept under quarantine like conditions, while they still enjoy first class stabling and their own paddocks. The broodmares as well as growing up stallions and fillies live in roomy, wooden-fenced grass fields with free access to open stables. These provide shade, fresh bedding and heated water at all times. The herds are carefully selected in regard to age and social considerations, as these structures will often persist for years.
