The Woodlands breeding program was started in the early 1950s by Sue Randolph Meredith (one of the founders of the VPBA, Virginia Pony Breeders Association). She showed ponies and later horses from the early 1930s to the early 1940s under her maiden name, Sue Bolling. She lived her dream of raising ponies at the Woodlands Plantation. Her work is being continued by her son, Bolling Randoph and his wife, Kay.
The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) has recognized Woodlands as the number one breeder of Pony Hunters in the U.S. for the third year in a row. The 2013 results can be viewed at their website under Leading Pony Hunters Breeder.
The Woodlands Pony Farm proudly offers for sale prospects going under saddle as well as young and breeding stock. Please look through our site and find the pony for you. Our ponies are Virginia Bred and registered with Virginia Pony Breeder’s Association (VPBA).
Our pony Woodlands Velvet Rain was 2nd nationwide under USEF Leading Sires of Pony Hunters in 2013.
Numerous Woodlands ponies are doing well in national and zone point standings in large and medium divisions: green, regular, and children’s.
