One of the most eagerly anticipated dates on the local summer calendar is almost here, as Gransha Equestrian Centre prepares to welcome riders, families, dog lovers and visitors to its Summer Pony Show and Fayre on Saturday, 1st August 2026.

Starting from 10.00am at Gransha Equestrian Centre, 10 Kerrs Road, Bangor, the event promises a packed day of equestrian competition, family entertainment and summer fun.

The programme includes an extensive selection of pony and horse classes, with show jumping, showing, handy hunter and fancy dress competitions taking place throughout the day. Riders of different ages and experience levels will have the opportunity to take part, with classes ranging from lead rein and first ridden sections to speed rounds, championships and horse showing.

There will also be a hobby horse race, adding another fun and light-hearted attraction to what is already shaping up to be a wonderful family occasion.

Away from the arenas, visitors can enjoy craft stalls, food and refreshments, and a lively fayre atmosphere. The Vet Spec Dog Show is also expected to prove hugely popular, with entertaining classes including the waggiest tail, happiest dog with the best smile, fluffiest dog, best trick, best rescue dog, best young handler and the dog the judge would most like to take home.

Dog show entries can be made on the day and cost £3 per class or £5 for two classes.

For horse and pony competitors, entries must be completed through the Gransha Equestrian App. Each entry costs £13 per class, plus a £2 contribution to Air Ambulance Northern Ireland.

Anyone hoping to compete is reminded that entries will close at midnight on Wednesday, 29th July, so riders are encouraged to book their classes as soon as possible.
